Who is O’Donis Person?

I am a dedicated human care specialist, magnetic communicator, and public speaker with nearly a decade of experience working as a psychiatric nurse. In 2018 I accomplished my dreams of living abroad and immigrated to Aotearoa from Michigan in the USA . I became inspired to create Thrive on Principle after experiencing profound burnout, strained workplace dynamics among work peers and uncertainty about my career direction in nursing. As a result of recovering from those challenges through research, self compassion and building boundaries, I help others reach similar outcomes. I have experience in both the USA and New Zealand; speaking in schools, businesses and holding workshops related to mental health wellness improvement. The tools I deliver in relation to burnout specifically, address each individual stage of burnout with appropriate interventions. I engage my audiences through thought provoking exercises, practical resources and captivating stories.

What people are saying

“I attended a presentation by O’Donis that focused on the stages of burnout. Working in a high stress environment, this has put things in perspective for me when managing my team. I have since looked at ways to incorporate his tools in my team management.”

Eloise Carstens, Team Leader of Kapiti Coast District Council, NZ

O’Donis utilizes props and open dialogue with audiences to develop and maintain engagement to convey his message. His presentation at an event themed ‘Resilience in planning’ resonated with most attendees present and prompted some self-reflection on the way we conduct ourselves at work and the need to have stronger personal boundaries. I would recommend him for any event related to wellbeing, stress and work/life balance.

Alicia Todd, Resource Consents Planner, Wellington, Hutt City Council, NZ

“Thriving is about asking ourselves the right questions in alignment with our identity, intention and the principles that build us.”
